The hotel is within walking distance of the lower Broadway tourist attractions and most other downtown hotels. Most students choose to stay in the Holiday Inn Express although many other hotels are located nearby in the downtown Nashville area. The hotel has free wifi and both Verizon and Sprint have good EV-DO and LTE/WiMax service in the building. The hotel has a free hot breakfast that’s pretty good. You will gain weight this week.
PARKING:
The hotel lot is regularly $19* ($10 with our group discount) per day. The public lots about four blocks away are $6 to $8 per day. Since the whole downtown area is within walking distance, many students just take a cab from the airport and walk to all their leisure activities during the week.Your class instructor is also an enthusiastic free tourhost, to help you explore the local sights, restaurants, and locations of entertainment, historic interest and beauty.
NASHVILLE -- CULTURE AND ENTERTAINMENT
Nashville's downtown is a center of arts and music -- Nashville is "Music City USA" for country music (the historic former home of the Grand Ole Opry, the Ryman Auditorium, is 5 blocks from hotel). (The present-day Opry House is about five miles east of downtown. The center for classical art (the Frist Center, across the street from the hotel) and classical music (Schermerhorn Center, blocks away) are in easy walking distance of the hotel. Nashville's NFL Tennessee Titans play about 10 blocks from the hotel. The Tennessee State Capitol and Supreme Court are nearby. The bloody civil war Battle of Nashville is remembered at many historic sites nearby. To ensure you don't lose weight during your visit, a stop at the famous Loveless Cafe is a safe bet. It's a beautiful 15-mile drive through the countryside to this nationally-renowned southern cooking haven, popular with many country music stars as well as network TV personalities. You might be able to talk your instructor into taking you there for dinner one night.
